If Meryl Streep is doing a movie around award season, every actress should start expecting to watch her at the podium. Although this will be a supporting role for her which could either help or hurt her cause. This feels like it could net an award or two come 2014. It looks like a tough movie to get through, but there are definitely some comedic elements there. This is Julia Roberts first major role in a dramatic picture in awhile. She did Mirror, Mirror and Larry Crowne, but both movies did not really net much attention. It also starts Chris Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Abigail Breslin.

This might be one to keep an eye on come award season. We have a true story about a free African-American man and a renowned violinist in pre-Civil War times get kidnapped and made a slave for 12 years of his life. Chiwetel Ejiofor is starring in the role and I would not be surprised if he gets some consideration for Best Actor for his portrayal of Solomon Northup. The movie also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt. All three of those men seem to everywhere in 2013. While this looks like a good one, I would probably go on-demand, not big on seeing historical dramas in theaters.
