New features of Facebook Cover Application and Auto Tweet App. in TheQuotes.Net

Few weeks back I had published a post about our Facebook Cover Application. I had written about our plans of adding new features to the Facebook Cover Application. And, I had collected some feedback from the users.





Now We have implemented many new features to the Facebook Cover application.

• Now you can set the Cover to the Facebook Fan page / Business Page also, apart from setting it to your Facebook profile page. You need to click "Set to Facebook Fan Page" link under the Facebook cover image. If you own many Facebook Fan pages, you set the cover to the specific set of Fan pages by checking/un-checking the chekboxes.
• And, you can schedule the Facebook covers for your Fan pages. Visit this page to activate the automatic change of Cover images for selected Facebook pages at the specified time interval. First time you need to allow the Facebook application to access your Facebook Fan pages  for changing the cover. i-e you need to accept few Facebook Dialog screens. This Facebook application will randomly choose one cover from here (except few covers that belong to Seasonal topic), and it will be posted at the specified time interval. You can change the time interval at any time, and if you want you can deactivate this feature for specific Fan pages. This Free feature will be more useful for keeping your Fan pages active so that you can get more "Likes".
•  Now, You can automatically post Motivational Quotes images to your Facebook Fan pages at preset time interval. It will bring more Followers/Likes to your Facebook Page. Read more details here.
• You can choose Random cover by clicking this http://thequotes.net/quotes/facebookcover/randomcover.php
• We can search the desired Facebook cover image by navigating Tags. For example, you can get Facebook Cover Images for Holi, and Easter, etc.
• We can see Top 10 covers, and Recently used covers.
• We have added a Search box to find the desired Facebook Cover image. Send your suggestions to me for improving the search feature further.
• You can view this slide show to choose appropriate Facebook cover image. You can filter the images by choosing the Topics shown on left side. You can use "previous" and "next" buttons to navigate thro' various Facebook images. And, you can use the "Random" button to get randomly selected Facebook cover image. And, you can use the "Play" button for viewing all Facebook Cover images one by one till clicking "stop" button.

Today I have noticed that Facebook is NOT providing any option for adding our Facebook Application into Tab of our Facebook Fan page.

I came to know about below work around by doing a Google Search.

We can add Facebook App to our Fan page tab by calling below URL.

i-e I had use below URL for adding our "TheQuotes.Net Motivation" application to our Faceboook Fan Page.

If we have more than one Page, then it will show a drop down for choosing one Fan page from the List.

We have launched initial version of Facebook Timeline Cover Application

Facebook had launched new Timeline Design one year back, and this new design is attracting lot of users.

The Timeline Design allows the Facebook users to set a Timeline Cover on their profile page.
If anyone visit a Facebook Profile, the first thing visible to him is "the Cover image". And, Facebook shows the cover image on mouse over of any profile from any place like Search results, friends list and status updates.

So, it is important to keep good images as profile cover. We can find lot of applications and websites for allowing the users to set their facebook profile cover. Each of them is having their own advantages and drawbacks.

I thought of coming up with a Facebook cover application which will provide advantages of all existing applications while removing drawbacks of them.  As Our previous Twitter application "Great Quotes Auto Tweets" is welcomed by many active social media users, I believe that our facebook application will also get good response.

So, we have taken an initiative to provide the Facebook Cover application at http://thequotes.net/quotes/facebookcover/

Note that it is just an initial version. We will be updating it with new features soon.

You can choose your favorite cover, and you can easily add them to to your Facebook profile. First time you need to allow our App. in Facebook book permission Dialog which will appear once after choosing the cover.


We are planning to add huge number of attractive Facebook cover images on daily basis. And, planned to lot of new features (e.g Search, Tags, cover for Facebook pages, scheduling cover change for Facebook pages, etc.) soon after getting initial feedback from the users.

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Facebook hits 1 billion Active Users.

Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the Social Media site Facebook has reached 1 Billion Active users Today.


Mark Zuckerberg has updated his Facebook Status with below announcement.

This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.

If you're reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.

Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.

I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.

And, Facebook has shared key metrics. Read below some of them.

- Facebook has seen Over 1.13 trillion likes since launch in February 2009
- 140.3 billion friend connections
- 219 billion photos uploaded
- 17 billion location-tagged posts, including check-ins
- 62.6 million songs have been played 22 billion times - that’s about 210,000 years of music
- Facebook now has 600M mobile users
- The median age of the user is about 22

And, in another Facebook Status update Mark Zuckerberg has mentioned that Facebook is similar to Chairs, doorbells, airplanes, bridges, games which connect people.

The implication nthen is that it is acting similar to cell phone monitoring software, that is it can help track and monitor activities of the user.

The flipside to Glancee
There are always two sides to the story. In this situation, Glancee could face an issue as it relies on real-time data – in practice of communicating with cell phone towers, which uses too much battery.
Another major issue is the privacy concerns, which ties in to almost every app available in the market. The upside of Glancee is that it blends the tastes of different people, searches for people with similar tastes, likes and dislikes. It is evident that this app is going to be one of the users’ personal favorites. However, a word of caution for the users who are very particular about their privacy – they shouldn’t use Glancee, as the app makes personal details accessible to other users in the first place.

Will Social Media News overtake Traditional Media News?

Social Media especially Facebook and Twitter are growing very fast. And, they are becoming professional/business tools. I had published many posts about the fast growth of the Social Media. And, we had created many scripts for utilizing the Social Media effectively for the business growth.

Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had published his marriage photo in his Facebook profile. Since his marriage was happened secretly without the knowledge of the traditional Media (i-e Television and Print Media).

My facebook News Feed was immediately updated with the Mark Zuckerberg's Marriage photo within few minutes. So, I was able to get the news quickly without requiring the print media or television or any news reporters.

And, therefore I just prepared a simple video about the marriage of Mark Zuckerberg and Pricilla Chan using the information available from Facebook profile of Mark Zuckerberg and Pricilla Chan. And, then I uploaded this video in YouTube before the main stream sites publish the News about Mark Zuckerberg's marriage.

This video may not be high quality. But it conveyed the message about surprise marriage of Mark Zuckerberg before the mainstream media publish this news.

So, thousands of people started viewing this video. From this incident we can clearly understand that the social Media is competing high with the mainstream media. But I am not sure whether Social Media can overtake the traditional media. Because the social Media used to give and spread lot of fake news. It is very difficult to authenticate the reliability of the Social Media News.

Facebook’s IPO: What Does It Mean?

When a company like Facebook wants to be traded publicly on the stock market they apply for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) for a certain amount of money. Facebook announced last week that they were applying for an IPO for $5 billion, and based on the shares this amount will buy, the valuation of the company is upwards of $75+ billion. The media frenzy that ensued did everything they could to dissect the possible effects the move will have on all factors involved.

Several people including myself are worried that Facebook is outdated and their attempts to redesign the template and features offered to its users are feeble in the grand scheme, long-term scope of the business. Obviously Facebook isn’t hurting for business with 845 millionusers, so the IPO isn’t to keep things afloat, but rather to get some quick, liquid cash for possible acquisitions.

Most people have a curious attitude when it comes to the IPO, there is little evidence to suggest people will be fighting over shares; however, everyone does seem to be tuning in just to see what is going to happen next. Especially where the early Facebook employees are concerned, a lot of people who started out with the company took stock options instead of money. Their shares are going to be worth little fortunes now that the valuation deems them so. The big question will be whether or not they stay at Facebook, take the money to play or to start their own companies. Investors are far more interested in getting in on the ground floor of a former Facebook employee who goes off on their own to do something new with the knowledge they’ve garnered and skills they’re honed over the last several years than they are in investing in Facebook itself.

The questions of privacy rage on, and going public only raises those concerns to a near shout in the media. The day to day is unlikely to be changed in any way for quite some time. I certainly won’t be rushing out to buy shares, but my curiosity has been piqued and I will be keeping tabs on the progress.

Facebook Hacked?

Anoymous Hackers warned that they were going to destroy Facebook on November 5th.

But nothing happened on November 5th.


It seems they have started spreading their virus now. Lot of Facebook users are reporting suspicious activities in their Facebook account.

Its rumoured Fawkes virus could be responsible for what is happening,

Facebook is taking steps to prevent spreading of such viruses. It started asking mobile phone verification and asking to verify the tags in friends photos.

Same mobile phone number can not be used for verifying more than one Facebook account.

Facebook is getting ready to face Google+ competition...

 The leading Social Media Site Facebook.com is getting ready to face the tough competition from Google's recently released Social Media product Google plus.

‘Post Tweets to Facebook’ feature in Twitter

Today I have noticed a new option in profile editing page of my Twitter Account.

This new feature is showing as ‘Post Tweets to Facebook’

This new feature will allow you to cross-post your tweets to Facebook as status updates.

Twitter note says that @mentions and @replies will not be sent, only ‘original’ Tweets.

Currently, People use third-party apps and plugins to cross post tweets into Facebook status. This built-in feature will make the Twitter users to cross post their Tweets to facebook easily.

This new feature of Twitter shows a rare moment of cooperation between the two social giants Twitter and Facebook.
