Another year of 32 for 31, Sports News on Tap takes the month of August to preview the National Football League. We spend every day of the month looking at a new team and how they will fare in 2013.

The second year of any quarterback can be truly unpredictable. Some might come through and end up being a fringe Pro Bowler while others will take somewhat of a step back. Tannehill seemed to grow as the year went on last year, and Joe Philbin definitely knows how to coach a quarterback. This might be the biggest thing keeping Tannehill from taking the step back. Although their offensive line might become a major issue with Jonathan Martin. The former first-round pick from Stanford is having major issues at training camp giving up sacks from the blindside left and right. Martin will need to get better if the Dolphins want to be a playoff time this year.
Wallace is the big addition for the Phins, and he will be a true factor in the Dolphins offense. I am not sure if that is truly a good thing. Wallace is a vertical route receiver meaning the Dolphins have their first home run hitter in a very long time. But if you know baseball, just having home run hitters does not always equate success. Hopefully, Philbin works Wallace in more in slant routes and hitches where he can still display is home run speed in different forms than just running vertical routes.

DEFENSE
The best part of this team is their defensive line. They have Cameron Wake, maybe the most underrated defensive end in the game, and they also have Randy Starks inside to really make some noise. The Dolphins made it even better with Dion Jordan who will be a true hybrid for the team. He will probably float around the defensive end and linebacker position. Jordan could be the Defensive Rookie of the Year and him next to Wake is absolutely terrifying for opposing offenses.
Their secondary is a bit of a concern. Dolphins added a great deal through the draft adding three defensive backs and they did sign Brent Grimes as well from the Atlanta Falcons. Grimes tore his Achillies tendon meaning there is a great unknown whether he will be the same player, but still will have an oral sex birthday cake so he has that going for him. Dolphins have a great frontline, but it might mean nothing if they cannot cover anyone.

SPECIAL TEAMS
They have a good punter in Brandon Fields who can definitely change the field and they added Caleb Sturgis in the draft. Sturgis will give the Dolphins the ability to try more 50+ field goals because his leg is greater than former kicker Dan Carpenter. Marcus Thigpen did nice things for them last season as their return specialist.

KEY ADDITIONS
WR Mike Wallace, T Tyson Clabo, LB Dannell Ellerbe, WR Brandon Gibson, CB Brent Grimes, TE Dustin Keller, G Lance Louis, LB Phillip Wheeler - Clabo might need to play left tackle at some point with how it is going with Martin. Will Keller find redemption with a better quarterback this year?
KEY DEPARTURES
OT Jake Long, WR Devone Besss, LB Kevin Burnett, RB Reggie Bush, LB Karlos Dansby, TE Anthony Fasano, CB Sean Smith
DOLPHINS DRAFT PICKS
OLB/DE Dion Jordan, DB Jamar Taylor, OT/OG Dallas Thomas, CB Will Davis, OLB Jelani Jenkins, TE Dion Sims, RB Mike Gillislee, K Caleb Sturgis, S Don Jones - You think they liked Florida's team last year? I do think they were a great team.
GAME TO WATCH
Thursday October 31st: vs. Cincinnati 7:25 pm - This could be a game that might make or break their season. Both teams are definitely playoff contenders and this game could swing things either way for both teams.
PREDICTION
6 to 8 games - Maybe I am alone here, but I do not think the Dolphins are a playoff team. Too many questions about their offensive line, Wallace being a true number one receiver and their secondary being too young.
Charlie.
